Pictures! | Pictures from our previous bicycle tours of Europe. |
Bill's Page | Bill Venners' "Bicycling Through Europe 1998" page. |
1998 Travel Log | I'll update this travel log as the trip progresses and as we encounter
cybercafes. Some of the entries will (hopefully) be entertaining, while
others may be simply a log of how far we rode and other nerdy information
like the logitude and latitude of a particular place.
[Sept. 12: Although, since my GPS seems to be less than waterproof(as I discovered it filling with water in the recent rainy ride), the long/lats may not be appearing indefinitely...] |
Moi | I picture of me, so you can visually identify me as I go flipping over your bumper. "Hey! That looked like that CycleThere.com guy. I hope he didn't dent the hood." |
My Résumé | My résumé, in case you happen to be looking for a top-notch software engineer. |
Artima Software | The place to go to learn everything about Java. |
Desiderata | Words to live by. |
Java World | The place to go to read Bill's latest exciting Java article. |
Mountain Biking | A nifty site with lots of info about mountain biking Trails in the San Francisco Bay Area! |
How far is it? | This site has a cool distance calculator. Just give it two sets of long-lats and it will tell you the distance betwixt them! I used this to estimate the length of our upcoming trip (which will be anywhere from 970 to 1130 miles as the crow flies (i.e. about 2000 miles as the bike tire rolls!), depending upon which routes we select (whether we go to Innsbruck and Murnau is a little up in the air...). |
GEOnet Names Server | This is another nifty, if somewhat nerdy, geography-related site. I used this site in conjunction with the above. You can give it a city and country name to get the long-lat for that city. |
I am not too ashamed to admit that CycleThere.com is the brainchild (I think George Carlin has a different term for this) of me, Matt Gerrans.
